BANGKOK

ED (Erectile dysfunction) is the most common sexual problem in men and increases with age. According to a survey of 1,000 Thai men between the ages of 40 and 70, 37.5% suffer from ED. It’s a very common health problem in the world and is one of the causes of family problems.

Phyathai branch 2 International Hospital is aware of the importance of this issue. We have set up a Kidney Disease Clinic to service ED patients from around the world. With Professional Doctors and international teams to support Foreign patients, and have newest technology in our laboratory for analysis of the causes of the symptoms of the disease.

Diagnosis & Test of Erectile dysfunction

There is no confirmed screening test for ED. However, most of the cases the doctor will review your medical history and perform a thorough physical examination. The doctor will interview you about your personal and sexual history or conduct a psychosocial examination. The interview may determine expectations and perceptions encountered during sexual intercourse.

Later the doctor may order laboratory and radiology tests, including:

  • Blood & Urine test
  • Duplex ultrasound: An ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to take “pictures” of the body’s tissues. For people with ED, an ultrasound may be used to evaluate blood flow and check for signs of a venous leak, arthrosclerosis, or tissue scarring.

Treatment

If your ED is caused by an underlying health condition, such as heart disease or diabetes, that condition may need to be treated first before treatment for ED can begin. In some cases, treating the underlying cause may also resolve the problem of ED.

Therapy

The first line of therapy for uncomplicated ED is use of oral medications. For men who cannot or do not wish to use drug therapy, an external vacuum device or even surgical prosthetic placement may be acceptable.
